k + s: white wolf, alpine meadows
Kate and Surya got married at one of my favorite venues, White Wolf Lodge in Alpine Meadows just north of Lake Tahoe. And one venue that I will recommend to couples for years to come.
This venue is absolutely exquisite with the most picturesque backdrop of Alpine Meadows and their own, personal mini-lake. It’s just stunning. Not to mention, the owner of this venue is down-to-earth, jolly, and personal (we love you, Troy!).
K & S were a joy from the start. You know this is an adorable couple when the fiancé is just as happy to talk florals as the bride. And I will tell you, meeting the couple in person was just as I would have expected - happy, gracious, funny, and in love.
K + S wanted to – literally – marry the Indian culture meets Tahoe native and they chose the most stunning wedding palette of deep reds, oranges, pinks, and subtle drops of neutral. Kate’s bouquet was an all-time favorite. It’s not often you get to work with such vibrant colors for a bridal bouquet. This bouquet included dahlias, roses, anemones, mums, ranunculus, and hanging amaranthus with added calycina, and dyed eucalyptus.
This wedding was the first time I was able to experience a traditional Indian wedding and let me just say, I am in love with Indian traditions. The mother of the groom decorated right alongside with me and walked me through what each piece meant and why they included it in the ceremony (e.g., the rugs, the garlands, the rice, the ashes, the urns, etc.). It brings tears to my eyes remembering this conversation and how much pride she had in educating me.
The mandap was something I had envisioned from the get-go, and I made it my mission to follow-through and stun. I remember Surya hugging me with tears in his eyes when he first laid eyes on the ceremony florals. He said “Thank you so much for creating the mandap of our dreams. This is exactly what we had wished for, and you made it a reality” Le sigh… Music to my ears!
The wedding reception held 12 long farm tables with rust table runners down the center and bright florals were placed in gold compotes to complete the look.
