Nestled in the heart of Soda Springs, California, Rainbow Lodge served as the enchanting backdrop for a wedding that was as picturesque as it was memorable. As the floral designer for this beautiful celebration, I had the pleasure of bringing the bride, Chelsea’s vision to life, creating a backdrop for her vows that complemented the rustic charm and natural beauty of the venue. And I can’t write this without noting that Chelsea was one of the very first bride’s that hired me when I was just a newbie. And boy oh boy do I have a soft spot for her trust in me. Chelsea is as classy as she is smart and I could feel her trust in me from our first email.
Rainbow Lodge, with its historic architecture and stunning natural surroundings, is a hidden gem in the Sierra Nevada. Its rich history and scenic location by the Yuba River make it an idyllic venue for couples looking to tie the knot in a place that combines elegance with a touch of adventure. The lodge’s wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and expansive windows that frame the forested landscape set the perfect stage for a wedding that feels both intimate and grand.
The bride and groom wanted their wedding to reflect both their love for the outdoors and their taste of modernism meets blooms. They envisioned a day filled with colorful wildflowers, and elements that echoed the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada. My goal was to create floral arrangements that felt organic and effortless, yet refined and timeless.
I secured a mix of wildflowers in varieties of sunflowers, roses, cosmos, snapdragons, marigolds and eucalyptus to gold lanterns as well as flower arrangements to sit atop wooden blocks as the decor down the ceremony aisle. This was met with two large arrangements as a focal point that framed the couple beautifully as they exchanged their vows.
As the day unfolded, it was clear that the flowers played a significant role in bringing the couple's dream to life. The natural beauty of Rainbow Lodge, combined with the thoughtfully designed floral arrangements, created an atmosphere of romance and celebration. It was incredibly rewarding to see the joy on the couple’s faces and to hear guests marvel at the beauty of the natural surroundings.
Designing the florals for this wedding at Rainbow Lodge was a truly inspiring experience. It reminded me of the power of nature and how the right floral design can transform a beautiful space into something magical. Here’s to many more love stories blooming in the heart of Soda Springs!
